Mr. Thomas was born on October 8, 1891. After basic training in the Army, he was assigned to the 163rd Infantry serving on the front lines in France. He was killed in hostile action on August 11, 1918. His body was returned to the United States and is buried in the Cairo Cemetry in Clay County.
